U Tube Presentations
May 18th, 2009Look up David Cameron on You Tube and you’re taken to a whole conservative channel, labelled “WebCameron”. http://www.youtube.com/webcameronuk
And how does he do compared Gordon’s famous You Tube gaffe ? On talking about the epic topic of MP’s expenses he does well. Visually, he looks a little formal, the regency curtains and the full suit and tie look is a bit incongruous on You Tube, but then again this is a serious weighty matter, with the credibility of Parliament at stake. He comes across as sincere and congruent. He looks and sounds authentically angry at the abuses of privilege that have gone on. His timing and emphasis are good and his language clear and emphatic. “I don’t CARE if these things were within the rules (Pause) they were WRONG”.
His speech writers do a good job of using some of the power of 3′s as a rhetorical device that sticks in people’s minds. “you are right to be angry that (1) some of the people you elect, are taking (2) your money to pay for things (3) few can afford”.
If 21st century communication is all about media capability and being able to present, persuade and engage people, then the conservative party are curently looking hot favourites for future success.
